The transfer took place on July 11th, 2013. Since his international debut for Kenya in May 2007 at the age of 15, he has amassed 60 caps for the national team.

On 11 December 2010, Wanyama equalized in the 77th minute against Westerlo with his first goal for Beerschot. After video evidence indicated he elbowed K.V. Kortrijk’s Brecht Dejaeghere in April 2011, he was given another three-match suspension. Southampton agreed to let Tottenham Hotspur have Wanyama on a five-year deal worth £11 million, and the two clubs announced their agreement on June 23, 2016. Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Tottenham, had already employed Wanyama before bringing him to Southampton in July of that year.

In the 82nd minute of Tottenham’s 1–0 league victory over Crystal Palace, Wanyama scored his first goal for the club.
