Brisebois followed a musical career after retiring from acting in the late 1980s. She was the keyboardist, percussionist, and backup vocalist for the short-lived rock band New Radicals, which she co-founded with her long-time musical partner Gregg Alexander.

Alexander produced both of her solo albums, Arrive All Over You and Portable Life. Natasha Bedingfield’s smash singles “Unwritten” and “Pocketful of Sunshine” were written or co-written by her. Brise Brisebois is the daughter of Mary and Frank Brisebois, a computer instructor, and was born on June 28, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York.

She is of Italian and French Canadian ancestry.  She started her acting career as a child actress when she was seven years old, in the film The Premonition (1976). In 1977, she starred as Molly, the youngest of the orphans, in an episode of Kojak before joining the original Broadway cast of Annie.

Brisebois joined Alexander’s New Radicals in 1998, and the group’s biggest hits were “You Get What You Give” and “Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too.” On songs like “Mother, We Just Can’t Get Enough” and “Jehovah Made This Whole Joint For You,” she contributed distinctive female vocals to the group’s style.

Alexander quit the band in 1999, but went on to produce and co-write Brisebois’ second solo album, Portable Life, which was due out on October 26, 1999. RCA Records stopped the release of the album and the single “I’ve Had It” at the last minute for unclear reasons.
