For the BBC One show Merlin, Vlahos took over from Asa Butterfield in the character of Mordred in 2012. Vlahos grew up in Tumble, Carmarthenshire, before relocating to Llantrisant, Mid Glamorgan.

He is the son of a Greek father and a Welsh mother, and he is fluent in both languages.  From the age of eight to eighteen, he played ice hockey.  His passion for the sport stems from his childhood memories of watching the Mighty Ducks, and he is now a major fan of the media franchise.  He received his acting training at Cardiff’s Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he graduated in 2009.

Vlahos debuted at The Old Vic in Fortune’s Fool on December 6, 2013. The first season debuted in November of 2015. Series 2 was shot in early 2016 and explores Philippe’s lighter side, marking Vlahos’ first long-term portrayal of a light-hearted character.

Producer Claude Chelli announced on September 14, 2016, that Versailles has been renewed for a third season, which began filming in April 2017.  Vlahos announced in March 2018 that the third season will be the final one for Versailles. A four-person ensemble played the ten characters that were chosen at random onstage each night by a roulette wheel. Vlahos portrayed Hamlet in the 2017 Big Finish Productions audio drama. Vlahos performed as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and Catesby in Richard III at York’s Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre in the summer of 2018, before returning to London’s Park Theatre to play Captain Hook and Mr Darling in a theatrical version of Peter Pan.

In 2009, he played Dylan in the BBC Wales drama Crash.
